RADON and what you should know

Radon is a color-less, odor-less, highly radioactive gas that is naturally present throughout the United States and elsewhere.  According to the EPA and the Surgeon General’s Office, an estimated 20,000 lung cancer deaths occur each year as a result of radon particles.  When testing is done in a home, these radon particles are measured in picocuries per liter or pCi/L.  The threshold or highest limit per the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is a radon level of 4pCi/L.  Although it may be nearly impossible to completely remove Radon in your home, it can be mitigated either as a do-it-yourself or by a professional.
